Stop Chasing My Sister

If you have a sister who is old enough to drive then you have definitely heard her complain about the situation we have here in Kuwait with animals following her, trying to get her attention and acting like idiots on the road. By animals here i am talking about young Kuwaiti men who have nothing better to do in life that to get in their cars, gel their hair and gas up their 70% debt purchased cars, just to make every girls driving experience a really horrible one.

You know, all my fellow male readers, we complain about the driving here in Kuwait but can you imagine being tail gated, being stalked, being basically stormed with cars all around while you on the road? I personally don’t think i can handle it and i really salute and pray to god that he looks over you girls out there while your on your way to work, home or even the shopping mall.

I am a man, 26 years old, i’ve been anything from a crazy naughty teenager to a respectful career oriented individual and i have NEVER not in my entire life once followed a girl around or even pull up next to her and give her the “look”. It is wrong, it is very dangerous, i personally know someone who lost his sister while some guys were following her around, and it should be stopped.

The thing is, i believe that it really does take two to tango and girls play at the end of the day some role in this stupid game. If guys were unsuccessful in meeting their next date on the road it basically will eventually self end, unfortunately that is not the case. The solution you might ask yourself can be anything from Police intervention or family intervention.

Let’s look at those two solutions a little closer, and i challenge you to come up with more;

Police intervention can come only when they actually have enough patrol cars in Kuwait to outnumber civilian cars, it literally is impossible. This occurrence in Kuwait is seen everywhere, on the way to work at 6:30 a.m. you see guys doing that and at night you see them do that, in main roads, in highways & in between block roads, there is only so much the police can do, so does it take family?

I believe that the core of our family values is in deep question right now, like the industrial revolution in the u.s. and the basic separation of the American family, we here in Kuwait are witnessing a different form of family separation. I believe the core of every family are the two founders of that family and the protectors of that family, and when we see such high divorce rates here in Kuwait, that only means that most of the children we see come from broken homes. It is such a sad situation, it really is, you sometimes and more than likely see the parents trying to get at each other through the children which burdens the spouse who has custody of the children and puts them at a monetary squeeze, which ultimately means less time to spend with their children to teach them (love, respect, values, and all the good things that maybe two generations ago were more strict about).

You know at the end of the day it’s what’s inside of us that counts, i’ll tell you a story and i really have no comment for it. I once received a call from a dear friend telling me, hysterically crying, that a guy had pulled his car behind her blocking her ability to leave the parking Lott and he has left the car and stood outside her window demanding that she gives him her number, i was there in under 10 minutes!

I walked up to a steroid buff mid aged idiot who was wearing a t-shirt 10 times smaller that his size, and i asked him 1 thing i said:

Jasem “do you have a sister at home”

Jerk “Yes”

Jasem “would you appreciate it if i did that to your sister”

Jerk “no, not at all, i would be pissed off”

He left, and i stood there wondering … what has this world come too.

i think i posted my comment in a wrong place sry :(

    slam alikom BRo Jasim ,

how are you doing . i really agree with you about the situation in kuwait and i think the problem is that we are studided in US ,one of the most respectaful countries, . i think we need to correct the errors in our society but not by calling people “Animals ” , at least they are muslems and Arabs , who are the best Ommah in the world as what Prophet Mohammed said . they may act as animals but they are few, the problem is that we see 1000 men do that and we think all peopl edo the same . i think we just need to punish those few number and not to judge the whole society becasue of few ” bad people ” . i really understand what u say but we need to solve it in better way .

Good luck and have a good one

    Yours,
    MOhammed alrashed

Mohammed thanks for your comment, i have a few corrections to what you said, i never said that all Kuwaiti men act that way or all muslim men are Animals like you had suggested, i would never speak in such a manner, BUT … anyone who acts like what we witness in the streets of our country and especially towards my sister who i love dearly is an Animal in my book :) I’m sure your experience in the U.S. would also agree with what i said :)

I thank you for your honesty about the situation here in Kuwait.
I think that it is a problem that need fixing, and not only do the Kuwaiti guys do it here, but they do it wherever they go!

I’m not saying that all the Kuwaiti men are like that or the majority, what im saying is that there is a large about and that they are spread everywhere. For example, when abroad a Kuwaiti guy would defend a Kuwaiti girl if there was someone from another nationality bothering her, and when the girl rewards him with a thank you, he tries to give her his number! is it “7alaaal 3alaiyh oo 7araam 3ala ‘3aira” or what is the excuse?! :P

And I have to say! the blame is not only on the guys, because in return there are girls who would follow guys, and do the same thing! All i Can say is welcome to Kuwait!

Afterall, there is a whole ring road that is made for this kind of thing! The proper name for that road would be “The 2nd Ring Road” BUT WIDELY known as “SHARI3 IL 7OB” …

The UAE has the best solution: the men who are caught harassing women like this are arrested, fined, and have their names and pictures published in the paper for all to see their shame. Now if only Kuwait did that too.
